One of our newest interns, Eddie Chase, reflects on first week at Exile.
"Starting as a General Administrative Intern at Theatre Exile has been a dream come true. Every since I saw their production of Gruesome Playground Injuries in December 2011, I knew that this was the Theatre Company I wanted to work for. Now that I’m here, those aspirations have been proven fruitful. It is a wonderfully creative work environment, where even the more menial task have a much larger purpose, and a real impact on the work Theater Exile does. Being a student playwright, who one day aspires to be self-producing, I need to know the in’s and out’s of what goes into turning written plays into fully mounted productions. The Marketing, the contracts, the fundraising. Already I’ve gotten my feet wet this stuff. And that’s just the stuff outside my field. The new play development work that is happening in the Studio Xhibition series is exhilarating to say the least. As an audience member I’ve been able to respond to playwright’s work in the Xhibition series, but being able to be involved in the process of developing these works is probably what has me most excited. Thanks to the wide variety of work that I’m doing, I’ve learned things well beyond what I would’ve learned just in a classroom."
