If you haven’t heard yet, Theatre Exile has returned back home to South Philly in a brand new theater – a state-of-the art beautiful performance venue with enhanced production and audience amenities! We are most proud to tell the story behind the scenes, a homecoming story with a happy ending that you, as one of our treasured Exile supporters, have been a part of all along. The story begins in 2016 when we received the news that our long-time home on 13th Street was to be sold.  When the sale was completed in 2017, we quickly learned that the building would be torn down and rebuilt as new apartments with a commercial space on the ground level, but no space for us.  With Theatre Exile-style grit and passion, Producing Artistic Director Deborah Block convinced the developers to literally dig down to create a new office and theater space for Exile. Through the tremendous support of the board and members of our community, Theatre Exile successfully executed a lease and worked with the developers to create plans for a new theater in our existing home address.  While the developers have been great partners throughout the process, Theatre Exile must raise nearly one million dollars to complete outfitting the new venue. Thanks to our family of devoted Exile supporters, in one year we were able to raise nearly $850,000 in donations and pledges towards our $950,000 goal!   As the final chapter of our homecoming story begins, we are now asking you to help us get over the finish line. The Independence Foundation, one of our long-time and most generous funders, has gifted Theatre Exile with a challenge grant that will match new or increased donations up to $1,000.  Their challenge is a two-to-one match; if we raise at least $50,000 in new or increased donations, they will donate an additional $25,000. You can help us complete the new Theatre Exile by making a donation today.   All new or increased donations made before the end of 2019 will be a counted towards this challenge grant. And your gift today could have a permanent legacy!  We are excited to offer you a named seat in the theater for your gift of $1,000. Your name(s) –or name of an honoree—will be highlighted as a Theatre Exile supporter with a commemorative plaque adhered on a new seat. Donations of $1,500 or more will also be listed on our inaugural Legacy Donor Wall and donations of $10,000 or more will be eligible for naming opportunities. I hope we can count on your partnership with Theatre Exile to support us at this important and meaningful time. Help us continue our legacy as Philly’s go-to company for daring, inventive, groundbreaking theatre. Your tax-deductible donation for this one-time event will make a real impact — while we also continue to count on you as our vital basis of annual operating support. As we mark this milestone, we salute you for allowing us to start our new story and our new future with such brightness. We truly wouldn’t be here without you. Thank you for being a part of the Exile family and for playing a starring role in our exciting Exile story! We look forward to seeing you at the new Theatre Exile soon! DONATE TODAY!
