Intern with Theatre Exile!

Theatre Exile offers three internship sessions throughout the year.

• Summer (June through September) Applications due by April 1st (APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED)

• Fall (October through January) Applications due by August 1st

• Spring (February through May) Applications due by December 1st

Theatre Exile brings interns on board as an opportunity for us to invest in young artists and administrators, and for our interns to explore their interests in a highly collaborative environment. We encourage interns to bring their ideas to the table, join the conversation, and be a real part of the Theatre Exile team. Each participant will get a taste of what it is to work in every department, and will walk away with a general understanding of what it means to run a small, non-profit theatre company. Every intern will work in the office regularly alongside the admin team, and will gain front of house and box office experience. Within that, interns may choose to focus in one of the following areas.

• Production: Work with our production manager to get hands on experience with show load in, strike, designer notes, maintaining our rep plot and stock, and setting our designers up for success during the season.

• Artistic: Work with our Producing Artistic Director in support of the day to day of running the company, including budgets, audience data collection, grant research, and investigating ways in to uplift and grow Theatre Exile’s brand in our local and global community.

• Development: Work with our Director of Development to cultivate donors, relationships, fundraising campaign strategies, and annual fundraising event coordination.

• Marketing: Work with our Director of Operations to activate and enliven Theatre Exile’s presence online and in the streets, in support of our three-show subscription series and other programming.

• Community Engagement: Work with our Producing Artistic Director to create and foster relationships with local affinity groups in relation to our three-show subscription series, in an effort to connect our work on stage to the individuals who see it.

• New Play Development: Work with our Producing Artistic Director and General Manager to facilitate and review script submissions, research up and coming playwrights and genres, participate in season selection, and support our annual Studio X-hibition New Play Staged Reading Series.

Internships may be competed for college credit. Recent college graduates may also apply, but we are unable to offer stipends at this time. The time commitment is 15-20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling based on applicant availability and company needs. Theatre Exile takes on two interns per session. Internships are open to those 18 and older.
