THEATRE EXILE EXPANDS PHILLY GRIT SERIES WITH BOLD 2025 LINEUP
Philadelphia, PA | January 29, 2025 – South Philadelphia-based theater company Theatre Exile (1340 S 13th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147) is thrilled to announce the return of its Philly GRIT series from February 26 to March 15, bringing audiences a fresh season of provocative, unfiltered performances by Philadelphia-based artists. Following the success of its 2024 inaugural season, Philly GRIT has quickly become a cornerstone of Theatre Exile’s mission to spotlight innovative voices and amplify the resilience, humor, and humanity of the city’s creative community.

THEATRE EXILE PRESENTS THE PHILADELPHIA PREMIERE OF MACARTHUR FELLOW SAMUEL D. HUNTER’S A CASE FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD
Philadelphia, PA | December 18, 2023 – For its 27th season, South Philadelphia-based theater company
Theatre Exile (1340 South 13th St, Philadelphia, PA 19147) selected compelling stories about characters embracing love, even as harsh realities and impossible odds confront them. This January, Theatre Exile presents the second show of its season, the Philadelphia debut of A Case for the Existence of God by MacArthur Fellow and Obie Award-winning playwright and screenwriter Samuel D. Hunter. Matt Pfeiffer will direct the production, starring Keith Conallen and Isaiah Caleb Stanley. The play is set to run from January 4 to January 21, presented in Theatre Exile’s intimate 100-seat black box theatre.

THEATRE EXILE PRESENTS THE PHILADELPHIA PREMIERE OF CAMP SIEGFRIED BY BESS WOHL
Philadelphia, PA | October 2, 2023 – Beginning October 26, South Philadelphia-based theater company Theatre Exile (1340 S 13th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147) presents the Philadelphia premiere of Camp Siegfried by critically acclaimed Brooklyn playwright, screenwriter, and actress Bess Wohl. The inaugural show of Exile’s 2023/24 season runs through November 12, featuring local actors Jenna Kuerzi and Adam Howard and Theatre Exile’s Producing Artistic Director, Deborah Block directing.



THEATRE EXILE PRESENTS THE WORLD PREMIERE OF ABANDON BY PULITZER PRIZE-WINNER JAMES IJAMES
Philadelphia, PA | March 1, 2023 – South Philadelphia-based theater company Theatre Exile (1340 S. 13th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147) is proud to present the world premiere of Abandon by Philadelphia-based Pulitzer Prize-winner James Ijames. The show was created in partnership with Theatre Exile through their New Play Development Program, Studio X-hibition.

THEATRE EXILE’S 2022/23 SEASON CONTINUES WITH THE PRESENTATION OF THE LIGHT BY CHICAGO PLAYWRIGHT LOY A. WEBB
Philadelphia, PA | December 16, 2022 – South Philadelphia-based theater company Theatre Exile (1340 S. 13th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147) is excited to present The Light by Chicago-born playwright Loy A. Webb in 2023. The show is the second production of Theatre Exile’s 2022/23 season and will have 22 performances from February 2 to February 26. The Light features Philadelphia-based actors Ang Bey (they/them) and Abdul Sesay (he/him), with J. Paul Nicholas (he/him) directing.

THEATRE EXILE KICKS OFF 2022/23 SEASON WITHTHE PHILADELPHIA PREMIERE OF WOLF PLAY BY HANSOL JUNG
Philadelphia, PA | October 12, 2022 – Beginning October 27, South Philadelphia-based theater company Theatre Exile will present the Philadelphia premiere of Wolf Play by South Korean playwright Hansol Jung. The first show of Theatre Exile’s 2022/23 season will run through November 20 and features Philadelphia actors Makoto Hirano, Bruce Baldini (they/them), Kira Player, Matteo Scammell, and Keith Conallen, with Theatre Exile’s Producing Artistic Director Deborah Block directing.
