Intern with Theatre Exile!

Arts Administration Intern The Arts Administration Intern is expected to help Exile staff members in all areas of the management of a small theatre company. Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Participate in planning and management of special events.
  • Work with the General Manager to organize and maintain contracts across departments.
  • Aid in the maintenance of vendor files and financial information.
  • Accounts Receivable/Payable entry
  • Assist in annual audit preparation
  • Create and update social media campaigns
  • Create e-blasts
  • Distribute marketing collateral
  • Coordinate mailings
  • Archive press and marketing materials
  • Assemble press kits
  • Assist in updating the website
  • Participate in creating marketing collateral
  • Assist in audience surveys
  • Assist in group sales outreach and management
  • Assist in grassroots outreach efforts
  • Participate in planning and management of special events.
  • Reading scripts; organizing received scripts.
  • Working with the Casting Director to audition and hire actors for Theatre Exile’s season and/or new play reading series; serve as monitor or reader for auditions and callbacks.
  • Casting database maintenance; receiving and filing casting submissions.

Additionally, all interns are expected to complete the following duties:

  • Basic box office responsibilities
  • Processing donations
  • Office organization
  • Updating contact & calendar information
  • Updating patron and vendor listings

Other opportunities

  • Attend and document first rehearsal
  • Participate in photocalls

The intern will be expected to assist in the execution of special events such as our annual fundraiser and opening night parties and will participate with Theatre Exile staff at these events when available. The intern may be asked to help in other departments as needed. Applicants should have strong communication skills (oral and written), directing, dramaturgy, and/or playwriting experience, basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office, and a positive attitude and collaborative spirit. Interns will be asked to work no less than 10 hours per week and no more than 30 hours per week and while the schedule can be flexible, advance notice of any prior commitments or conflicts is greatly appreciated.
